So I drove back down south on Saturday to check on my sailing boat, Miley, in Brighton Marina. I was also very much looking forward to collecting my post from the marina office. In March, Jonny bought me an awesome long brown wax Drizabone coat and I have worn it religiously ever since – it especially looks the part on the big gaff rigged yachts I have mostly been sailing this year! You can get separate wool liners to go inside the coats, but they’re expensive, so I found a shop in Australia that sells them for less (as Drizabone is an Aussie make) so ordered the XS size to go with my XS coat, and it finally arrived, but they sent S instead of XS and it’s slightly too big. Jonny says I would enjoy life far more if I didn’t get annoyed about things like that, but I have too much of dad’s pedantry in my genes to let it slide. I have sent them a customer support message.
We stayed a couple of nights on Jonny’s boat in Shoreham, did a few little jobs, and now time for the five-hour drive up North…
It’s really strange being away from Elizmor – I texted dad late on Saturday evening to let him know we had arrived back down South OK, and that I was already missing Elizmor. Dad replied saying “Elizmor is another world”. She really is… and I can’t wait to go back to that world.
Also looking forward to her new anchor hopefully arriving at the boat tonight – as long as we make it up there in time to meet the courier!
