Just a quick post to share some very happy news with you all.

I recently contacted the editor at Practical Boat Owner magazine (Britain’s best-selling boating magazine), as I have written a few features for them before. I often post on their internet forums so I created a thread about my new project, Elizmor. The fantastic response I have received from the other forum members has been fantastic; I have already made some new friends, and over 15,500 people have now viewed the thread about Elizmor.

So I got in touch with the editor of PBO to ask about writing a feature for them, pointing out the interest amongst their readers on the forum. The ‘Elizmor Project’ naturally lends itself to two features, each based around the two biggest phases of the adventure: Phase One is from purchasing Elizmor to her launch, including all of the work we’ve done before she can go back in the water. And then Phase Two would cover the eventual journey down to the south coast, via the Irish Sea, and include all of the work needed before she is ready for a voyage like that.

Well, after a great chat with editor David the other day, I can excitedly tell you that PBO have commissioned a 4-5 page (2,500-3,000) word feature about the first part of ‘Project Elizmor’. I will write it in January 2014 after her launch (which hopefully goes to plan – or maybe it will make for a more interesting article if it doesn’t!) and then keep you updated with news of the publication date.

As one person said on the forum -

“The article, if it becomes a series, might be enough to tip me over the edge and renew my subscription…” – chrisbitz

Think I might forward that quote on to the editor!
